For the layout of the floors of nhow Amsterdam RAI, mainly metal stud walls were used. All these walls, some 1,800 square meters per floor, were installed by CBA Tiel B.V.. The finishing specialist also installed the suspended ceilings in the central corridors of all floors.
Pleijsier Bouw already approached CBA Tiel during the tender process to help calculate the finishing part. Knauf, supplier of innovative finishing systems and materials and partner of CBA Tiel, also joined in early on. Together, the three of them managed the completion from start to finish.
"On each floor with hotel rooms, we installed about 1,800 square meters of various types of metal stud walls," says estimator/work engineer René Kiezenberg of CBA Tiel. "We also installed just under 400 square meters of metal stud ceilings per floor. The central corridors and elevators are equipped with suspended ceilings. There are also several general floors, such as the first floor, 17th and 23rd floors. There we also installed metal stud walls and suspended ceilings."
CBA Tiel had 2.5 weeks per floor to install all metal stud walls and metal stud ceilings. In that time frame, CBA Tiel had to do the setting work, install the cladding and install insulation. In between, the plumber and electrician had to place their installations. "A pretty tight schedule," Kiezenberg said. "Our work immediately followed the installation of the facades. That's also where our challenge immediately lay. If the facade could not be placed due to too strong a wind, for example, we could not continue either."
Using a hanging scaffold, through a transport opening in the facade, CBA Tiel brought in the finishing materials. Kiezenberg: "Quite a job, especially when you consider that 2.5 truckloads of drywall were brought in every two weeks. And then all the accompanying profiles and insulation material! Still, progress was good. This is partly due to the tight planning and good cooperation with Pleijsier Bouw. This kept the momentum and positive atmosphere going. It turned out to be a beautiful building. We should all be proud of that."
