The Gasthuiskwartier is characterized by a great diversity of building forms and facade finishes. As a regular partner of Heijmans, Stucadoorsbedrijf L&L provided both the interior and exterior stucco work for the first phase. The latter in close consultation with Strikolith to achieve the most durable end result possible with a 10-year non-expiring warranty.

"For us as a Bossche company, it is of course extra special that we get to contribute to such a wonderful and unique project in our own city." says contractor Humberto Ruijs. Since its founding in 2004, L&L has steadily grown into an organization with some 40 permanent employees and a flexible shell of another 100 temporary workers. "At peak times, we worked at the Gasthuiskwartier with a team of 10 employees at the same time, especially to apply Strikolith Spacks Excellence spray plaster to the large number of square meters of interior walls, which is very easy to apply and process."
The exterior stucco was done in Strikocem, a non-insulated cementitious mortar finished with a silicone spachtel. "This combination makes the exterior stucco more resistant to weathering," said Roy van den Oetelaar of Strikolith. "To further increase durability, it was decided in close consultation with L&L to use so-called APU connection profiles instead of sealant or stucco stops at the connections with window frames, hard stone bands, et cetera. In combination with a PE sealing tape, a UV-resistant dilatation is guaranteed."
