High-end heat/cold units with guaranteed return temperature

464 Arctic WKW units (type S-3.5P), equipped with AquaHeat Mercurius remote control and Diehl energy meters, are being installed in the apartments of the Salmon Harbor Tower for the purpose of optimal heat distribution. "The WKW units in the homes have their own developed 3.5-pipe system, which optimizes the distribution of heat, cold and hot water with a guaranteed central return temperature," said director Dirk Ockhuizen of manufacturer Fortes Energy Systems. 

The AquaHeat units, type Arctic WKW S-3.5-P, are installed in homes such as those at De Zalmhaven, connected to a heat/cold distribution network. Functions include heating domestic hot water, controlling the secondary heat/cold system with mixing control, pressure separation between the primary and secondary heat/cold systems, and supplying heat and cold when requested by an external thermostat.

Project De Zalmhaven will be equipped with a WKO, with district heating as a secondary heating system. Optimal heat distribution in the homes requires a high-end heat unit with a guaranteed return temperature, such as the 3.5-pipe system developed internally at Fortes Energy Systems. "This type of project requires a universal heat unit that provides the right comfort. We are the only ones who can provide such a system."

The choice of this type of heat unit is a no regret solution, says Ockhuizen. "For example, in the event of a water leak in the secondary heating system, water damage is minimized because the primary and secondary heating systems are separated by means of a heat exchanger."

An additional 33 Arctic HEX-120 standard heat units will be installed in the low-rise buildings of De Zalmhaven.
