IJsselmonde provided the exterior facades of these sixteen modern row houses with a thick insulation package with plaster finish and accent areas in mineral stone strips.
Hart van Hoogvliet is a development by Kalliste Housing Development. HOYT Architects & Construction Managers provided the design, BM van Houwelingen the execution. "A fresh, contemporary project," says architect Joris van Hoytema. "The exterior facades of the houses manifest themselves as a tight white grid, within which the buyers themselves determined their window arrangements. This created a coherent and at the same time playful facade image. This was best realized with an exterior wall insulation system provided with stucco and mineral stone strips."
IJsselmonde was involved in the new construction project at an early stage to translate, together with the architect and contractor, the aesthetic facade image into an efficiently feasible system. "The houses consist of a concrete shell with prefabricated HSB elements on the front and rear facade," says project manager Jan Buijk of BM van Houwelingen. "Each element has its own distribution of window and accent areas, in accordance with the buyer's wishes and according to a set layer size." Jacco Oostenbrug of IJsselmonde adds, "We provided the concrete shell and accent areas with an exterior wall insulation system from Sto Isoned. This system is composed of an adhesive layer, an insulation package and a stress distribution layer. We finished the facades with stucco and the accent areas with stone strips in vertical bond."
"We applied the insulation package in different thicknesses," Oostenbrug continues. "In this way we realized the depth effect envisioned by the architect, with the accent areas set back in the facade. We also gave substance to various architectural details, including the downspouts recessed into the facade." Buijk emphasizes that the execution of the facades required preparation and coordination. "As a builder, we need IJsselmonde's specialism to tackle such projects successfully, with as few failure costs as possible and on schedule. In this we succeeded well." Oostenbrug is also satisfied: "The construction speed was quite high. To maintain that, everything had to be right. Partly due to the good preparation, but certainly also due to the pleasant cooperation with BM van Houwelingen, we delivered the work exactly on the day."
