'Tiling makes washrooms just a little more beautiful'

The tiling company from Barneveld realized the tiling in a nice one-two punch with sister company Kerastone, which supplied the tiles.

"For Binx Smartility, it was of course interesting that the tile supplier and the tiling company were connected," says director Gerrit van Gaalen of Van Beek Tegelprojecten. "As a total provider, we relieve the contractor from design to completion." Daryl Otten, project manager at Van Beek Tegelprojecten, adds, "Moreover, we can switch quickly with each other and provide the necessary flexibility if the need arises during the process."

Luxury look

In consultation with the architect, Van Beek Tegelprojecten applied wall tiles from the Maxus Ceramics MX-50 series. "A strong tile with a luxurious appearance," says Van Gaalen. "The tile is 8 millimeters thick and has a size of 20 x 50 centimeters. With this we make the washrooms just a little more beautiful than with the standard square tiles." Otten: "The distribution of the tiling is also not as we do standard. Instead of a symmetrical distribution, the architect wanted a distribution from the heart. Furthermore, we applied two colors. The sink walls with mirror recesses have anthracite-colored tiles. On the other walls are white tiles."

Good cooperation

Van Beek Tegelprojecten installed the first wall tiles in June 2020 and carried out the work in phases. By mid-October, the tiling, totaling some 800 square meters, was complete. "A beautiful and well-run project," Otten looks back. "That certainly also applies to the cooperation with the contractor. It was the first, but as far as we are concerned certainly not the last time we carried out a project with Binx Smartility."
