High-quality insulation prevents energy losses in new Van Mossel building

Insulation company Hanenberg BV can build on 60 years of knowledge and experience in thermal and acoustic insulation and finishes. In recent years, the Waalwijk-based company has been involved in a variety of beautiful and challenging projects in non-residential construction, light industry and the food industry. Where normally the projects are further afield in the country, the company was recently involved in a special eye-catcher in its backyard: the new logistics center with headquarters of car giant Van Mossel in Waalwijk.

Eight employees of Isolatiebedrijf Hanenberg BV provided the thermal and acoustic insulation of the mechanical and sanitary installations on behalf of Hoppenbrouwers Techniek. From central heating and cooling pipes to water pipes, sewers and rainwater drains and including pumps and fittings, so that energy losses during transport are not an issue. This not only benefits energy efficiency, but also reduces energy bills.

Based on Hoppenbrouwers Techniek's installation drawings, Insulation Company Hanenberg BV determined the correct insulation materials, lengths and method. For thermal insulation, the company uses stone wool shells (central heating pipes and hot water pipes) combined with an Armaflex elastomeric insulation (cooling pipes and cold water pipes). "Whereas the wool shells prevent energy loss during hot water transport, the insulation of the cold water pipes and fittings primarily serves to prevent heating, condensation and - as a result - corrosion," says Ad Bos of Insulation Company Hanenberg BV. "The rainwater drains and sewers are acoustically insulated with Jacomassa."

All work was performed on the job, with the short execution time in particular creating challenges. In addition, work space was limited in the technical area, for example. Good agreements and a sophisticated work sequence were therefore of great importance, Bos said. "All work was carried out in a construction train. We applied our insulation materials immediately after the installations were assembled and pressurized. To keep speed in the project, we flexibly scaled people up and down. In addition, we worked through evenings and vacations so that the finishers could start their work as soon as possible."
