Cladding Partners provided the new building of the Rodenborch College in Rosmalen with a very special jacket. "There is no building like this in the Netherlands, it is truly unique."
The company handled the engineering and assembly of the cladding for the new school building. Some 2,000 m2 of sandwich panels were installed on the sports section and 4,000 m2 of aluminum elements on the education section. Around the windows a pattern of inverted cubes was punched out in gold-colored elements. Project Manager Gilbert Romme: "This has become very unique and beautiful, especially now that there is lighting behind it. It was quite a job: an employee spent months manually turning all the cubes."
Cladding works with the other parties involved in 3D BIM. "We are often involved in such a project as early as the design process, because the architect does not always have the necessary knowledge for this," he said.
All the elements are unique and together form a huge 3D puzzle that had to be assembled and assembled on site. A total of six to eight people from Cladding Partners spent six months working on it. "In the end, it involved almost five hundred different elements. Our strength is the engineering of it. All elements are 3 mm thick and were given a special finish in the form of a high-quality coating. The gold-colored elements were anodized, which makes them look like they have been sanded."
The end result is worthy of note, but the road leading up to it was not without controversy. For example, there were many sloping sections and ponds around the construction site, which made transportation difficult. Also, partly because of the war in Ukraine, there was a scarcity of aluminum. "We worked hard behind the scenes to still get everything in on time. For example, we bought up several batches." Romme is proud of the final result. "The entire cladding was custom made and it was a unique project. There is no building like it in the Netherlands. I think it turned out very nicely."
