Versatile with glass 

Fireproof, bulletproof, soundproof, fall-through safe, but above all aesthetically very beautiful. Interior Glassolutions demonstrates the versatility of the glass product at the Booking.com headquarters in Amsterdam. For the 'glass artists' from Veenendaal it was one of the largest projects ever. A review with sales manager Rob Helmons.

At the new headquarters on the trendy Oosterdok Island, all glass is the order of the day. It is largely transparent both inside and out. Interior Glassolutions initially took care of the porter's lodge and various sound and fireproof interior walls. "As the project progressed, more and more components were added, such as the glass balustrades, the glass interior walls for the offices and auditorium and the video walls in the atrium. Everything made of glass in the building was actually supplied and assembled by us," says the enthusiastic sales manager.

Masterpiece

Almost everything in the building is special, but the forward-sloping video walls in the atrium are surely a masterpiece. "Because of the complexity of these walls, which are also positioned at an angle, we made a full-scale mock-up in the preliminary project to test their feasibility," Helmons explains. "These video walls were also based on high requirements with regard to soundproofing and fall-through safety. Leave that to us. In fact, all our glass systems are tested by a Notified Body, an independent and certified testing institute. That gives us an important edge."

More than glass

Booking.com has been one of the most high-profile projects for Interior Glassolutions, Helmons says. "All our disciplines and possibilities in glass did come into play here. And where necessary, we even went a step further. For example, for the auditorium, the conference room, we not only supplied the glass (sliding) walls, incidentally also with an acoustic requirement, but also took care of the aluminum facades, the façade construction, the blue steel and the expanded metal. And that was particularly interesting for the contractor, because they had only one point of contact for the complete auditorium."

Interior Glassolutions takes care of the entire process for clients, from calculation to assembly. "This is how we keep quality and planning under maximum control and are able to make a very distinct design also feasible. Booking.com is a great example of this."
