"Hofman Staalbouw is a reliable partner that manufactures internally and manages the entire process in-house. From design to assembly," says project leader Peter Hoff. Also at Lidl's DC in Almere, Hofman Staalbouw was responsible for the calculation, engineering, production, preservation and assembly of the steel. "In addition, we assembled most of the concrete. A hybrid construction was used in this project, in which concrete and steel elements are structurally connected. Also special is the roof, with an area of 55,000 m2, which is constructed of trusses. These trusses were produced as individual parts in our workshop and assembled on site into trusses of over 40 meters."
The distribution center meets the highest BREEAM-NL rating of "Outstanding," Hoff says. "Moreover, during construction there was an emphatic focus on CO2 emissions. On the construction site we sec used modern machinery, the consumption of which was accurately tracked. We also recorded all transport kilometers." Hofman Staalbouw is certified for several quality assurance systems, including NEN-EN-ISO 14001 and NEN-EN-ISO 9001. The conformity of the structural components was tested against the NEN-1090, in which the steel builder has many years of experience.
Under the direction of and in cooperation with Bouwbedrijf Vrolijk, Hofman Staalbouw once again delivered a fine piece of work in Almere. "The pleasant cooperation with the main contractor arose during the construction of several previous distribution centers, such as the RUIF in Oud Gastel and Smartlog Harnaschpolder (DC 2) in Den Hoorn. Lidl's distribution center is a nice addition to this reference list."
