Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
The Rotterdam Polymer Hub (RPH) is the first logistics hub in the Port of Rotterdam dedicated specifically to polymers (plastic granules). A 'familiar face' on the Maasvlakte, Conferm was selected to realize the more than 45,000 m² distribution center that is BREEAM 'Excellent' certified.
According to William Holvoet, director of Conferm, the idea for a so-called polymers hub came about in view of the growing import flows of polymers from the Middle East and the United States. "RPH is a joint initiative of the Port Authority, the Euro-Rhine Group and entrepreneur Geert van de Ven. With this hub, the port aims to become a hub for further distribution of polymers within Europe. Through word-of-mouth advertising, we as Conferm came into the picture. We have already realized many premises on the Maasvlakte, including the premises of neighboring Neele-Vat Logistics."
Conferm designs, advises and realizes state-of-the-art projects, delivered turnkey and realized in close cooperation with clients, architects and fellow specialists. "RPH is a design by Designlogic B.V. and composed of a concrete plinth and a steel facade," Holvoet explains. "We always think in function of the client to realize the most future-proof building possible, sustainable and preferably circular. We adapt the housing and installations to this. This requires optimal coordination and cooperation with partner companies. We have therefore surrounded ourselves with a number of reliable partners, including Van Berlo for the foundation structures and concrete floors. Together with our partners, we very often arrive at optimizations. For RPH, this resulted in rapid wind and water sealing and rapid realization of the floors, so that our client could start building and furnishing the racks even before delivery."
RPH is BREEAM "Excellent" certified. "A label we are very familiar with," says Holvoet. "Nevertheless, we always consider whether a sustainability label also adds value for the client, society and the environment. It should not be an end in itself."
