The Art of Bending for Modern Architecture
Thanks to Brouwers General Bending, facades take on a dynamic character.

The art of bowing to modern architecture

Innovating is no longer a choice, when it comes to urban planning projects. It is a requirement. Because anyone who thinks that facades are simply straight and austere is wrong. At Brouwers General Bending, facades take on a dynamic character. The Belgian company, founded by Edsko Brouwers, specializes in complex bending techniques that turn every facade into an eye-catcher.

Brouwers General Bending is located in Herentals, Belgium, where it has an extensive factory with three specialized halls: one for preparation and storage, one for production and a third for operations such as drilling and sawing. This layout ensures an efficient workflow and fast delivery.

The company works exclusively with supplied profiles that are bent with extreme precision. "We often receive products that are already fully designed. Our job is to bend them as precisely as possible, without losing the shape or structure," Brouwers explains. One example is the Heldentoren in Knokke-Heist. "For that project, we bent balustrade profiles to size. That requires craftsmanship and the highest precision."

Innovative techniques for complex facades

Innovative facade projects require a unique approach and technical expertise. "Our specialty lies in bending complicated profiles, such as glass core profiles with holes in them," says Brouwers. This kind of custom work is not easy. "Modern profiles are often thinner and therefore more difficult to work with. Profiles used to be thicker, which was easier to bend. Now we have to take many more factors into account to prevent distortion."

In addition to precision, sustainability plays an increasingly important role. "We work with energy-efficient servomotors that consume less power up to 70%. This is not only efficient, but also environmentally friendly," says Brouwers.

Applications in different industries

Brouwers General Bending techniques find their way into numerous industries. These include the automotive industry, metalworking, shipbuilding, urban construction, stand construction, interior and store fitting, industrial construction and advertising panels. Thanks to this broad expertise, Brouwers General Bending Works can meet virtually any challenge. "Every profile is different and requires customization. That is what makes our work so fascinating," said Brouwers.

Looking ahead to 3D bending

The future of facade construction requires even more innovation. 3D bending is one of the next steps for Brouwers General Bending. "Architects are increasingly asking for facades that are 3D bent. This is technically challenging, but we are already adapting our machinery to this," says Brouwers. With more than 30 years of experience, modern machinery and a focus on quality and flexibility, the company remains at the forefront.

Brewers is proud of the work he and his team deliver. "Every project is unique. What I like best is to work on something that no one else can make." Thanks to technical perfection and custom work, Brouwers General Bending manages to impress time and time again. After all, a facade is more than a shell - it is the eye-catcher of every building.
