The requirements for airtight construction are becoming increasingly stringent. To meet the BENG requirements, the airtightness of buildings must be demonstrably up to standard. Airtightness performance is expressed in Qv10 values, where the lower the value, the better the airtightness. Whereas a Qv10 value of 0.6 or higher was common just a few years ago, many homes are now being built with a value of 0.4 or lower. This calls for smart solutions and attention to even the smallest details.

By getting involved early in the design and construction process, construction details can be better tailored to actual construction practices, significantly reducing the risk of failure costs and air leaks.
In addition to mass-produced ground-level housing construction, there is also a growing need for well-designed waterproofing solutions for prefabricated high-rise buildings. The increasing density of inner-city areas is leading to a growing proportion of prefabricated concrete and steel-frame elements, which are often installed without scaffolding. Celdex developed the Seal4Prefab waterproofing system specifically for this construction method. This integrated solution combines airtightness, thermal insulation, and driving-rain protection in a single system. The waterproofing products are applied to the prefabricated elements at the factory, making on-site installation faster, safer, and less susceptible to weather conditions.
