Matena's Market gets an OP deck^® parking roof. A special floor system that is completely tailored to the project and has many other advantages.

Between the residential towers, on top of the shopping center, there will be a 2,500-square-meter roof equipped with a parking roof and garden roofs. These connect to the adjacent apartment buildings. "Thanks to its many advantages, our client Batenburg Bouw & Ontwikkeling chose the OP-deck^® system," says Charles van Oldenbarneveld of Tullingh & Partners of Ede. This firm is engaged in the engineering, management, delivery and execution of construction-related projects in residential, commercial and industrial construction.

Revolution in tradition
OP deck^® is basically an insulated formwork system consisting of sandwich panels and EPS profile blocks. Based on the specific starting points of a project such as function, loads, insulation requirements, fire resistance and mass, a structural T-rib of reinforced concrete is designed. Here, the sandwich panel acts as the "carrier" of the wet concrete during pouring. The EPS profile blocks form the final mold for the designed T-rib. The sandwich panels and EPS profile blocks are assembled on site. After the 'traditional' reinforcement is applied and the concrete is poured, a floor of barely 30 cm thick is created with a free span of 5 m. The concrete floor weighs only 250 kg/m². On top of this OP-deck^® floor can directly realize a garden roof or parking roof.

Van Oldenbarneveld mentions a few additional advantages: "This sustainable floor system is the only one with a high thermal insulation value of at least Rc 6 and is 90 minutes fire resistant. The white underside, which simultaneously serves as a ceiling, has a reflective effect in favor of the lux value. The design takes into account thermal expansion without expansion joints. This creates a large smooth floor that does not generate noise when cars drive over it. Also, the parking roof and garden roof are low maintenance, saving costs for both users and owners."
