Wooden window frames for preservation project

'Test case with new crane turned out very well'

Dekker Kozijnprojecten cooperated in a sustainability project for SW Vastgoedverbetering in the Adamshofstraat in Rotterdam. This involved replacing the window frames of three residential towers of 36 apartments each.

SW Vastgoedverbetering is a regular client of Dekker Kozijnprojecten, explains project manager Gerrart van Veen. "We are then asked to help think about the best solution already at the front. In this case, there were wooden window frames on the indoor loggias and balconies that were still good. Those remained in place and we replaced all the aluminum sliding windows with new ones.
wooden frames."

Smooth operation with small crane

The project started just after the construction period and was completed about six weeks later. The new window frames are fitted with HR++ glass, which significantly reduced the moisture in the homes. The project went exceptionally smoothly, says Van Veen: "We had bought a new crane just before the construction period and on this project we were able to use it immediately. Initially we wanted to do this work with a large crane between the flats, but then we had to bring the window frames in at an angle and then pull them in. This was much easier with the small crane: you can move it, frame and all. You drive to the desired spot and with a long arm with a piston you put in the already painted window frame. Then we finished it neatly on the inside."

'Nice test case'

An additional advantage is that a small crane does not damage the subsoil and surrounding vegetation. Especially nice at a downtown location, where limited space often causes problems. Van Veen looks back on the project with satisfaction. "It was a nice test case for the new crane and it turned out very well. Partly because of that, the project went smoothly. Although I should add that residents also cooperated very well. They are happy with it."
