An impressive new construction project is rising in Nieuwegein: Weverstede, consisting of three residential towers. This project calls for sustainable, innovative solutions, especially when it comes to heating. And that's where KMZ comes in. With an approach that is both cost-saving and environmentally friendly, the company manages to surprise the construction industry time and again.
Led by co-owner Cor de Gans, the company has been a long-term partner in the construction industry for 24 years. "We started small, but quickly grew into a versatile company with multiple branches," says De Gans. Today, the company consists of KMZ Dry Technology, KMZ Leak Detection, KMZ Climate Rental and KMZ Heaterbox. That diversity makes the company a unique player in the Netherlands and beyond.
Drying technology and leak detection are essential for water damage and construction leaks. With innovative methods, such as insulation drying and accurate leak detection, KMZ knows how to solve problems quickly and efficiently. "Our Heaterboxes are a niche product. The Heaterboxes are CO2-neutral and wood pellet-fired central heating boilers, saving up to 50% on energy costs. Nobody in the Netherlands does what we do," De Gans emphasizes.
At new construction project Weverstede, KMZ played a crucial role in heating the buildings. "During the winter months, when temperatures drop and relative humidity rises, our systems ensure that the buildings remain comfortably warm and dry. We use a unique system with large central heating boilers that generate hot water. We pump this hot water through a primary and secondary system to the various water heaters in the building. With this system, we independently regulate heat on each floor. The warm air is then dispersed through air ducts, creating an efficient heat circulation. The cooled water returns to the boiler to be reheated. This method is sustainable as well as significantly reducing energy bills."
The collaboration between KMZ and contractor Akor was a hit. "A spontaneous acquaintance led to a very good collaboration and to even more new projects," says De Gans. "You can't deliver a beautiful project on your own. You do that together."
