Asbest Assist Nederland combines specialized knowledge of asbestos removal with extensive experience in general demolition work. This makes the company well-suited for a wide range of demolition projects. “We enjoy working for regular clients, such as housing associations, construction companies, government agencies, and property managers,” says Tinus Weterings, technical director at Asbest Assist Nederland. “They know what to expect from us and can turn to a single provider for a variety of demolition services.”
A good example of such a long-standing partnership is SPIT Projecten. The collaboration has now been in place for about five years and encompasses a wide range of demolition projects. One of the projects that clearly demonstrated Asbest Assist Nederland’s versatility was the renovation of 53 homes in Wijk00 (De Boomkamp and surrounding area) in Nieuwkoop.
“As a demolition contractor, we’re at the forefront of the construction process. We make sure a space is stripped down to its bare essentials and ready for the next phase,” says Weterings. “In the homes of Wijk00, we completely gutted the bathrooms and toilets. Plumbing fixtures, wall and floor tiles, and the subfloor were removed. In addition, preparations were made for the new layout. For example, where necessary, a cutout for a new shower drain was chiseled into the concrete floor, and walls were sanded down to ensure optimal adhesion of the tile work.”
The work involves more than just removal. Asbest Assist Nederland also actively prepares the home for the work to be done by its installation partners. “For example, we cut and chisel out trenches for the new piping. We also drill the holes for the wall outlets in advance. This makes the job a lot easier for the electrician and plumber who come after us.”
A key consideration during renovations in occupied homes is minimizing disruption. Dust, in particular, requires a targeted approach. That is why Asbest Assist Nederland uses Airbo vacuum cleaners equipped with a P3 filter that can filter approximately 750 cubic meters of air per hour. Good logistics are also a standard part of the demolition work. The resulting debris must be removed in a controlled and efficient manner to ensure the worksite remains clean and safe. In Wijk00, this went smoothly without any major issues. “It was actually a demolition project straight out of the textbook,” said Weterings.
