Circular demolition and green site design: Roseboom Group is working hard in hometown Ede to redevelop the Dulon College. With its innovative view on sustainability and a professional working method, Roseboom, commissioned by Rots Bouw, is helping to create a study hall anno now from the old ROC.
Roseboom is no stranger to Ede. More than 75 years ago the family business started there in earthmoving. The head office is still in the same town, but these days Roseboom's expertise extends much further. With a large portfolio consisting of infra, energy (district heating), engineering, transportation, demolition and remediation, it is not surprising that main contractor Rots Bouw knocked on the door precisely here for the renovation of the local ROC. "The location around the corner from us as well as a pleasant cooperation with the main contractor is ideal," says company manager Gerard op 't Hof.
In this project, Roseboom's work started at demolition. Because the school remained open during demolition, the team worked with a very tight roadmap in which each phase was crucial. "We performed both total demolition and renovation demolition work," says Op 't Hof. "Part of the building was stripped down to the shell, because the shell was still quite usable. We are a circular demolisher and like to save where possible."
These savings are not always visible to visitors, but in other places the sustainable practices can be admired by passersby. Indeed, Dulon College will have a green exterior design. "In the past, all squares were filled with tiles, but nowadays there is more and more attention to flora and fauna," says Op 't Hof. "We are carrying out the plans as usual, but also giving our partners some practical guidance. So this project really feels like working in a construction team. All partners work hand in hand together and are open to each other's advice.
What a relief!"
