Custom high-rise elevators

Elevator manufacturer Orona manufactured, supplied and installed three high-quality finished passenger elevators in BOLD's high-rise core, as well as two specials for shuttle traffic in the entrance area. The student housing is equipped with two standard elevators. "Special in this project is the machine frame at the top of the elevator core in the high-rise building. This construction is integrally produced and hoisted in," says technical commercial consultant Hans Boekraad of Orona.

"Installing elevators is always customized in terms of dimensions," continues Boekraad. "That doesn't mean we market every elevator as a unique type, but in terms of dimensions - no problem at all within our production process."

'Triplex' executed elevators

BOLD's high-rise core features three elevators designed as "triplex" to reach the apartments. "These machine-roomless traction elevators from the 3G series have a speed of 2.5 m/s and are finished with a hard-glass cabin wall and a TFT screen. The elevator cabs have 25 stops and a head of 80 meters; two of them are designed as firefighting elevators." At the top of the shaft is the machine frame produced integrally at Orona Netherlands, which houses low-maintenance electric motors for propulsion.

A shuttle elevator to the parking garage and an elevator to the public facilities on the plinth floors are provided in the entrance area. "The latter installation is a special in that due to the small pit space in the shaft, a renovation elevator from our range was used. Another two 1,000-kg elevators with 13 stops were installed in Lieven de Key's student housing."

Sustainably produced

Orona's elevator systems for the Netherlands and Belgium are delivered by train once a week from its production site in northern Spain. "All elevators supplied are produced sustainably. Orona is the very first elevator manufacturer in the world to be certified according to ISO 14006/Ecodesign. Clean management methods are central to all phases of development, engineering, production, installation, assembly, maintenance, dismantling and final reuse of our elevator systems, escalators and moving walkways. Minimal emissions, proper production methods, energy efficiency and recycling of components play an important role."
