Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
Fusion is set to give Amsterdam-Zuidoost a new boost. On the site of the former World of Food, a multifaceted urban development is taking shape that brings together residential living, social spaces, business, and gastronomy. The project includes a revitalized World of Food, commercial spaces on the ground floor, and three residential blocks with 351 units, divided into 30% social housing, 40% mid-range or private-sector rental units, and 30% for-sale units. The residential blocks share a common parking garage but simultaneously require autonomous access management. This calls for a smart and integrated solution for intercom and access control, combining independent management of the residential buildings with secure access to the shared facilities. To achieve this, Vercoma is implementing a future-proof platform that combines security, ease of use, and centralized cloud management.
Fusion is a project by the Lingotto and BPD development consortium and is being built by Heddes Bouw & Ontwikkeling. Vercoma was brought on board for Fusion by Blom Elektrotechniek, a long-standing partner with whom the company regularly carries out projects. “The main challenge in this project lies in the building structure,” explains Andy Menheere, Sales Manager at Vercoma. “Our goal is to preserve the independence of each residential building without compromising the ease of use of the shared parking facility. That’s why we’re bringing the three buildings together into a single cloud environment, in which each residential block has its own administrator for tags, keys, and access rights. On top of that is a single central management layer that manages the parking garage. This creates a single, uniform system with the flexibility of three autonomous environments.”
At the heart of the solution is Vercoma’s IP G+ IP video intercom system, which includes an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. Each residence is equipped with a high-quality G+ EDGE monitor, which allows firmware updates to be easily performed remotely without the need for a technician to visit. In addition, a modern SIXTY5 camera intercom panel with a digital touchscreen is installed at every entrance. For access control, the iP-Opener system is fully integrated, providing residents and property managers with a single, user-friendly platform for communication and access management.
IP G+ is a serverless IP video intercom system that combines communication, access control, and building security into a single future-proof platform. Because all components communicate via the standard TCP/IP network, no separate server is required. This reduces implementation costs, simplifies management, and eliminates dependence on a single central system. Thanks to its peer-to-peer architecture, the system continues to function even when a central server is unavailable.
The strength of IP G+ lies primarily in its extensive integration capabilities. The platform supports, among other things, IP cameras, VoIP telephony, elevator control, home automation, technical alarms, and access control. Up to 256 cameras can be integrated into a single system, and Wi-Fi cameras in the homes can also be easily connected, allowing residents to see what’s happening at home via their smartphones. Thanks to integration with Android, Alexa, Google Home, and CCTV solutions, the system effortlessly adapts to the ongoing digitization of buildings. Configuration is largely automatic, and thanks to PoE power and modular expansion options, the system is easy to install in apartment complexes, offices, hotels, and healthcare facilities.
Fully integrating iP-Opener into the IP G+ platform creates a single, centralized environment for both intercom and access control. Users, access rights, keys, and administrative tasks can be managed via a web interface, either locally or through the cloud. The modular system easily scales with future expansions and, thanks to its built-in intelligence, continues to function during network or server outages, after which all data is automatically synchronized. AES128-encrypted Mifare+ readers and tags ensure a high level of security, while features such as visitor management, QR codes, license plate recognition, and reservations for shared facilities can be easily added. In this way, Vercoma offers an integrated, scalable, and future-proof platform for modern residential buildings such as Fusion.
