Luxury living in the city: London lifestyle in Hoofddorp

Hyde Park in Hoofddorp is slowly but surely transforming into an ultramodern urban district with international allure. Within this dynamic environment, KBM Group is working on the final touches of Notting Hill housing block; a project that brings the luxury and charm of the London neighborhood of the same name to the Netherlands. Such an ambitious project brings with it the necessary challenges. KBM Groep project manager Richard Koopman tells us all about it.

Hoofddorp's new eye-catcher.

KBM Groep is a Katwijk-based family business specializing in housing construction and care complexes. With a radius of action that extends across the western provinces of our country, KBM Groep has now built a solid reputation as a reliable main contractor. "We are active in the development, construction, maintenance and sustainability of various projects," says Koopman. "Our strength lies in establishing long-term relationships and delivering quality and innovation."

Notting Hill: a residential block with British charm

KBM Group was awarded the contract for Notting Hill thanks to one of those long-standing relationships and its expertise in complex construction projects. "We have been involved in Notting Hill since 2021," Koopman said. The housing block consists of six interconnected apartment buildings centered on a central courtyard. "Each facade is unique, with materials such as fiber-reinforced concrete and panels with MBI stone strips. This creates a rich facade appearance."

The whole of Hyde Park

The new addition to Hoofddorp will eventually include as many as 3,800 homes. Hyde Park will feature iconic buildings, intimate squares and green spaces designed by renowned garden architects, such as Piet Oudolf and Wim Voogt. "It will be a slice of Hoofddorp where residents can enjoy a unique blend of modern architecture and natural beauty," he said.

Challenges and innovations

Building Notting Hill was not without its challenges. "It is the largest project KBM Group has tackled to date, with buildings rising more than 40 meters into the air," Koopman says. A huge construction site like this has large groups of workmen running around. It's up to KBM Group to streamline all those parties. "Notting Hill is a big project that is part of an even bigger project: Hyde Park. All the building blocks have their own main contractor. We've had a lot of contact with those parties and the municipality. It will be different blocks and together they will form one big whole. You can only do that if all the noses are in the same direction."

Notting Hill has a total area of more than 35,000 square feet. "That means a lot of concrete," Koopman laughs. "It's a very impressive housing block and you can imagine a lot of work goes into it. But it's still a construction project. And let that be precisely our expertise!"

Proudly looking to the future

KBM Group proudly looks back on the realization of Notting Hill. "It has become a beautiful whole," says Koopman. "And together with well-known partners we have managed to achieve this in a harmonious way. We have created something beautiful that will be of great value not only now, but also in the future."

Notting Hill's first homes were completed shortly after the construction period. Hyde Park promises to be a stunning living environment for future residents. Here, luxury and comfort go hand in hand with modern, urban living conditions. Atmospheric living in an urban setting.
