'We have all the necessary disciplines in house'

Electrical installation residential care center

Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT is providing the Zandstaete project in Tilburg with the complete electrical installation. The complex will house 33 extramural homes, one hundred and twenty care apartments for the elderly with dementia and a hospice with twelve apartments.

Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT was asked by client De Wever for the project because of its broad expertise in electrical engineering, says project leader Joan Wagenaar. "In addition to the normal electrical installation, this project will also include a care call system. We will also provide the fire alarm system and the access control system. An important part of the assignment is to supply the biodynamic lighting system. For this target group, it is important that the light in the building moves with the daylight. This way residents stay better in their day and night rhythm."

Planning and control

Construction began in February 2023 and the new residential care center will be completed in late 2024. A wonderful project to work on, Wagenaar believes. "The complexity of the installation is manageable, but it takes planning and direction to install everything in the right place at the right time. That is why the cooperation with the building contractor and W-installer is very important to us, and it goes smoothly. Everyone gets time to do their part of the job. We work with a good team here and the various executives have the project well in hand."

LED lighting, solar panels and data installation

The basis of the specifications had already been made by a consulting firm. The engineering department of Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT developed this into an implementation plan. The building will be very energy-efficient: LED lighting will be installed throughout and Van Hees will supply a solar panel installation. There will also be a complete data installation in the care apartments, on which the care system also runs.

Van Hees Elektrotechniek & ICT does often work for healthcare institutions. "We specialize in that. But we actually work in all areas, because we also do schools, housing construction and hall construction. We have all the necessary disciplines, such as fire alarm specialists and ICT specialists, in-house. This is very convenient for our clients. They only have one point of contact for the complete installation."
