Starting in October 2022, construction will begin on the sustainable business center Plus Ultra Utrecht. The building is located in the Science Park of Utrecht, on the Universiteitsweg/Uppsalalaan. Utrecht University and Stichting Utrecht Science Park chose Kadans Science Partner to develop this new building. It promises to be a very future-proof and energy-neutral building, including solar panels and energy-efficient installations.
Plus Ultra Utrecht will offer 22,000 m2 of office and laboratory space designed for R&D start-ups and scale-ups within healthcare, life sciences and sustainability.
The currently empty Kavel 32 in Utrecht's Science Park will be taken in hand by Kadans Science Partner. And the ambition is big! They are aiming for a BREEAM-NL OUTSTANDING certification and a completely energy-neutral building with BENG 2 <0. The intention is that primary energy use will be limited by low-energy installations, which in turn will be fully compensated by solar panels.
"We are looking forward to making our contribution to the development of the Utrecht Science Park. With great enthusiasm we are going to give a beautiful interpretation to Kavel 32. A great challenge lies in the shared lab that we want to realize. This will enable us to facilitate the full life cycle of Life Sciences companies in the Utrecht Science Park, making us a full partner for the park," said Johan van Gerven (Associate Director Acquisition & Development at Kadans Science Partner).
Other parties involved include MTD Landschapsarchitecten, Cepezed architects and Adviesbureau Tielemans BV. Main contractor Goossen Te Pas Bouw B.V. will be in charge of the construction project and will carry out the coordination from A to Z.
Kadans' focus, and also the demand from Utrecht Science Park, is to completely unburden the tenant (the end user). For example, there will be a Community Manager who develops the local and international ecosystem; tenants will have access to an international network with 23 campus locations in Europe; and a facilities, commercial and community team will be available to tenants. The Community Manager in particular will help connect tenants among themselves and possibly with tenants from other buildings.
Thus, attention is paid not only to the quality of the building, but also to the quality of service and the needs of the tenants.
At least 75,000 students, scientists and staff from medical centers, companies and knowledge institutions work together on the 367 hectares of the Utrecht Science Park. This way they contribute to the development and application of impressive science that can make a difference within healthcare, sustainability and life sciences.
