Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
WEBO | Scaffoldless® Construction is currently in full production and assembly of the Scaffoldless® facade elements for Cartesius Triangle rail block (blocks A through F). The HSB elements are completely fitted with frames and cladding (mineral wall strips and Fraké) at the factory. Wessels Zeist's subproject consists of 242 homes, divided into 6 linked building blocks.
One of the challenges with this project is that the Scaffoldless® elements were purchased at the time the concrete frames were already in place. WEBO | Scaffoldless® Bouwen has developed adapted details for this purpose, so that the complete elements can be assembled efficiently, without scaffolding equipment. Working with various façade finishes and cantilevered trusses also present challenges that can be easily overcome with Scaffoldless® Construction.
Because of the unique designs, each block has a different challenge. For example, at Block A, cantilevered piers were used to hide the dilations between the elements. In both Block A, B and D, the elements are stacked through per floor, so tolerances are minimal.
For blocks B and C, the facade is slightly set back in the shell and the cantilevered balconies were mounted in advance. WEBO | Scaffolding-free® build adjusted the details accordingly, so that the elements can be mounted between the floor sections with special lifting tools.
The new neighborhood will have a green character, with the various blocks having varied façade architecture. For example, for blocks B, E and F the choice was made to use Fraké as cladding on the prefabricated facade elements. Block B has an open facade structure and E and F, on the other hand, a closed structure. Fraké is a hardwood species with a high level of durability and therefore extremely suitable for use as cladding. To further preserve the cladding, the wood is thermally modified and fire-retardant impregnated.
