Last year, contractor JVA Stolwijk BV celebrated its 25th anniversary. A great milestone, and now another one is coming up. The company was allowed to work on Parel in de Polder, the new office building of De Vries en Verburg, with which JVA Stolwijk BV has a very good relationship. Owner Johan Verkuil talks about the project.
With a festive kickoff, the first pile recently went into the ground for Pearl in the Polder, a project in which JVA Stolwijk BV is happy to collaborate. "We are pleased and honored to be involved in the construction of the own office of such a large firm client," Verkuil says. "I find that special."
The bond between JVA Stolwijk and De Vries en Verburg has always been a good one. "In 1991 I worked there myself for almost 2 years, so I still know many employees from the very beginning personally. After I started my own company JVA Stolwijk BV, we became a valued subcontractor. We carry out various works in the GWW sector on behalf of De Vries en Verburg. A good example of this is the redevelopment of the Heineken site in Zoeterwoude. We have grown along with the growth of De Vries en Verburg and have a good relationship with various employees, partly because we come from the same village."
The project will be completely emission-free. A challenge, states Verkuil. "One way we do that is by using electric equipment. We also invest in this, but cannot avoid hiring electric machines sometimes. That is still quite a challenge because the availability is not yet very high." In addition, building on soft peat soil, right next to water, presents a challenge. "We already have some experience with similar projects, such as the new construction of the workshop on Zijderlaan in Stolwijk."
The name is very aptly chosen. It is a durable and beautiful design with lots of wood and glass. When entering Stolwijk, there will soon be a stylish and appealing building. It will add value to the polder.
