The right temporary elevator for every project

The right temporary elevator for every project

Anyone who thinks elevator rental today is a singular service or supply has missed the technical advances and efficiencies of modern construction. So says RECO, which includes RECO Lift Solutions. With an extensive range of construction and passenger elevators of its own manufacture and various A-brands, RECO offers the largest elevator fleet in Europe. From stair elevators to mammoth elevators.

PARTNER IN CONSTRUCTION ELEVATORS

Our cities are growing rapidly. Especially in the Randstad, where the demand for high-rise buildings has never been greater. However, inner-city high-rise construction is not an easy job. Contractors face not only limited space, noise restrictions and time-consuming traffic and safety measures, but also rising construction costs. Since there is hardly any space on the first floor for storage of goods or facilities, they are forced to go directly into the height. And that brings new challenges. "For example, lifting movements of the tower crane often require work to be partially stopped," knows Edwin Verpoort, Deputy Director at RECO. "Especially within construction-safe zones. When the vertical transport offers insufficient capacity, this results in long waiting times for personnel. In combination with the RECO passenger-goods elevators, the RECO Common Tower offers a solution for this."

"By combining the RECO Common Tower with our passenger-goods elevators, we are able to provide the full lifting capacity required for both employees and goods during the completion and façade finishing of high-rise projects."

VERTICAL HIGHWAY

The RECO Common Tower involves an aluminum structure that can be placed against the facade and was initially developed for the London market, which has long struggled with the dilemmas and costs of building on a postage stamp site. "In London, we were able to actively participate in thinking about new construction methods. Through the knowledge and experience we gained in this process, we became specialists in optimizing vertical construction logistics. By combining the RECO Common Tower with our passenger-goods elevators, we are able to provide the full lifting capacity required for both employees and goods during the completion and facade finishing of high-rise projects." The elevators offer a lifting capacity of 2,500 to 3,200 kg. "Reducing the use of a tower crane not only provides safer transportation, but also dramatically reduces waiting times for personnel," Verpoort said. "Because the structure is not
subject to wind loads, the likelihood of lost days is minimized. In addition, the tower offers the advantage of a ground-level loading and unloading platform on each floor. Our passenger-goods elevators can be attached directly to the tower, eliminating the need for anchoring in the new facade."

RECO Common Tower and passenger-goods elevators have recently been applied at the Landmark Pinnacle tower, the One Crown Place towers and building complex The Stage in London. In addition, RECO's range includes a wide range of goods elevators, passenger elevators, lifting platforms and transport scaffolds, which can be used to provide efficient construction site equipment. "Together with the contractor, we are happy to look for a customized solution for his vertical transport," he says.

WIDE RANGE OF PASSENGER ELEVATORS

In 2006, subsidiary RECO Lift Solutions started the rental of passenger elevators. "We now have a rental fleet of 72 temporary passenger elevators, with different drives (rack and traction), elevator speeds and erection techniques," says Robert van der Bruggen, director of RECO Lift Solutions. "The passenger elevators are placed on the outside of a building and feature an enclosed shaft, a capacity of up to 12 people and elevator speeds up to 0.8 m/s. The elevators can make up to 22 stops and fully comply with the elevator standard NEN-EN 81-20."

Because the RECO Common Tower construction is not subject to wind loads, the likelihood of lost days is minimized. In addition, the tower offers the advantage of a ground-level loading and unloading platform on each floor.

FULL-SIZE INDOOR ELEVATOR

Popular in the fleet is the RECO modular indoor elevator, which fits through virtually any door and can be easily assembled on site. "But our temporary passenger elevators, whose modular containers can be easily stacked, have also been attracting high praise for years. With our RECO Plug & Play elevator, the containers are even optimized in such a way that they can easily be transported on a truck (internationally). In addition, the elevator features the familiar automatic wing doors, push buttons and look and feel of a fixed elevator, which makes people feel very senang here."

The rental of elevator systems is increasingly being integrated into a total solution, Van der Bruggen emphasizes. As an example, he mentions the maintenance of residential complex Cliostede in Eindhoven, for which RECO Lift Solutions worked out, delivered and installed a variety of solutions. "In addition to a temporary passenger elevator, in this project we provided a temporary construction elevator, an emergency stairwell and a temporary outdoor gallery with public-friendly scaffolding and lighting. So that even residents who are somewhat less mobile were given safe and barrier-free access to their homes. Because RECO Lift Solutions, like RECO, Eekels Pumps, RECO Solar, BestLed, ABS Trading and RECO Hoist Hire (UK), is part of the RECO Holding, we were able to deliver a total solution in this project, using the knowledge, expertise ánd products of all the companies to the best advantage."
