"We want to completely 'unburden' our clients, which means that we organize the entire process from devising an effective construction system and all necessary preparations to the execution of a structure," says work planner Raoul Stevens. "We always adapt flexibly to the needs of each project, and our experienced staff are happy to think along with the client to arrive at a high-quality solution."
Developer U-Build contacted Van Muijen Betonbouw because it was looking for a specialized subcontractor for the concrete work for project Singelstaete with 26 luxury apartments on the site of the old Rabobank in Barendrecht. "This project with a floor area of 900 m² includes the foundation, which consists of concrete piles and in-situ poured foundation piles and beams. The basement floor is cast in situ and finished monolithically, while wide slab floors are being assembled on the upper floors. We are also responsible for the cast-in-place walls and the construction of the stairwell, which consists of precast walls and also includes stairs and landings. The columns, used mainly in the basement, also consist of precast concrete. Finally, from the first floor, all precast balconies are attached to the concrete floors using iso baskets," Stevens explained. "At the moment, the project is still under construction, but before the construction period, this not-quite-ordinary project should be fully completed. After all, it is being coordinated by the developer himself, without a general contractor. Surely that requires a different way of thinking."
