Two impressive residential towers of 70 and 100 meters are appearing on the banks of the river Maas in Rotterdam, with shared living at its core. Project Clubhouse Boompjes provides space for 342 private sector rental apartments, commercial spaces and a central lobby where residents can work, receive packages and have a nice cup of coffee. Commissioned by contractor Cordeel, WVH is providing both residential towers with approx. 15,625 m² of aluminum composite panels and approx. 21,000 m² of timber frame facade elements, with Celdex Pre-Seal foam tape ensuring perfect airtightness.
Celdex specializes in airtight construction. "We advise contractor parties to make their precast projects airtight, impact rainproof, watertight, thermally and acoustically insulating," says Business Development Manager Henny van der Heijden. "We also develop concepts such as Dichtgarant and Seal4Prefab and go along with the concepts of our facade construction partners. A few years ago, for example, WVH already developed a prefab concept in which its timber frame elements are cleverly and efficiently combined with Celdex's dry sealing products."
WVH and Celdex's concept has since been applied to several projects, such as Bright residential tower in Rotterdam and now Clubhouse Boompjes. "WVH has now mastered the concept so well that they can keep assembly tolerances well under control, says Van der Heijden. "As a result, an excellent air seal can already be achieved with a relatively smaller Pre-Seal foam tape on the inside."
