Carpentry factory WEBO in Rijssen exists 30 years. This was celebrated during a special customer event on Friday, September 13 last. In addition to a tour of the factory, guests were given an exclusive preview of the latest development within the company.
Who believes in disruptive change? Who believes that construction collaboration will change significantly within the next ten years? And who believes that major changes are needed in construction? With these three questions, Willem Haase, director of carpentry WEBO, tried to probe and excite his guests. It typifies the young director. Since he took over the company from his father Jan Haase in 2008, a new fresh wind has been blowing. He changed course and is fully committed to development and innovation. The company therefore positions itself as "Inventors in the carpentry industry. In 1988, eight people were employed and the core business was the production of wooden frames, doors and windows. Since then that has been overtaken by innovation and anno today the company has one hundred employees, three production locations and they earn their money mainly with the production of prefabricated HSB elements and their flagship scaffoldless® Building. "I have a passion for processes and innovation," says Willem. "I believe in industrialization in construction. The construction industry is the least efficient industry in the world, industrialization is the solution to that. For example, we have been working with BIM for years. All our processes are controlled from BIM. The step to move to an automated factory is then close at hand. It is time for us in the industry to do something again. If it is up to me, a lot is going to change in the construction industry in the next few years."
During the customer event, there was not only time for words, but also to see the carpentry factory in action. Among other things, guests saw for themselves at the production site of the Scaffoldless® Building how complete facade systems are assembled and finished at WEBO. The anniversary program also included a trip to innovation in the automotive industry. Guest speaker Robert Dingemanse, CEO PAL-V, told a fascinating story about the flying car.
The customer event was also the moment to treat guests to the exclusive preview of the latest development within WEBO. Willem: "We are constantly looking for opportunities to improve processes. We have developed a WEBO plug-in for the Revit software program. With this plug-in you can select any frame model and place it in a 3D environment in the building to be developed. The added value for our customers is that this allows them to have a final drawing, insight into the costs and order directly. If the entire construction column starts doing this, we can digitally build a house together. In doing so, we will make a big step together." The WEBO plug-in is in the final stages of development. Its final release is expected in the first half of 2020.
