At Kop Dakpark in Rotterdam, everything is about cooperation and timing. In all of that, Dickhoff Installations takes care of the complete plumbing work. From sewers to plumbing and water pipes, the work runs through all phases of construction.
Dickhoff Installations works from three distinct disciplines. The daily maintenance department handles small and quick jobs for housing associations in Rotterdam, such as leaks, blockages and plumbing problems. There is also a roofing department, specializing in lead and zinc work and bitumen and plastic roofs, from small barn roofs to large-scale renovations of flats and sports halls. The project department focuses on renovation and new construction. From kitchen and bathroom renovations to complete residential buildings with hundreds of apartments. This also includes new construction projects such as Kop Dakpark.
The collaboration with contractor Slokker Bouwgroep did not originate with this project. “We had already done a renovation project together,” says director Dave Dickhoff. “We liked that and then we were asked for the new construction as well.” After a tender process, the project got underway. For Dickhoff Installations, this means a new step within an existing relationship. “We prefer to work together for a long time. Not one or two projects, but really building a lifelong cooperation.”

At Kop Dakpark, Dickhoff Installations is responsible for the plumbing. That starts as early as the structural phase. “During pouring, we make sure everything is in the right place. This is followed by the water pipes and finally the final assembly.” A special part is the planting installation. The building will have a lot of greenery on the facades and balconies. “We lay the water pipes. A green party connects a computer-controlled system to that for watering.” That makes the project different from standard residential construction. “It will soon be a really green building with plants and even trees. You don't see that everywhere.”
This project hinges on good people on the construction site, Dickhoff contends. “But they are fortunately there. There is a strong crew and good foreman running. As a result, I have little to worry about. That gives confidence.”
For Dickhoff Installations, a Rotterdam company, the project has added value. “It's nice to work in your own city. Especially on a project that stands out.” The client also plays into this. “For Woonstad, we already work in daily maintenance. It's nice that we are now contributing to the new construction as well.” And that doesn't stop at completion. “In a few years we might come back here again for maintenance. That way you're not only building a project, but also your own future.”
