De Molenlei in Rotterdam will be a new care and residential complex with 78 places for rehabilitation, short-term care and long-term living. With this new building, the client is opting for a combination of modern techniques and future-oriented care functions, under one roof with the R.C. Parish of Saint Bernadette.
For Stam Montagebouw, De Molenlei is a project in which healthcare construction and complex detailing come together. Project manager Eduard ten Ham explains how Stam Montagebouw realized this project. “Partly due to the good preparations and the craftsmanship of the Stam guests, we were able to complete this work within the set schedule.”
The church in particular requires a lot of attention. “You have to deal with a lot of details: ornaments, crosses and big stained-glass windows. It's bizarre when you see how many details are in there. Moreover, you have to deal with large surfaces due to high walls and ceilings. This must also take into account dilations against cracking. These things require extra attention to ensure consistent quality.”
Stam has been working with general contractor Van Omme & De Groot for some time. A particularly smooth project. Because of the excellent cooperation, everything went according to plan. “And of course we reward that too, for example with a tasty snack.”
A good digital tool also contributes to success. Stam has been working with the program Dalux since this year. “This makes the entire work process more efficient. You always have the latest drawings at hand, can view all the details and ask questions when necessary.” This not only reduces errors, but also makes for finer coordination with other parties. “Automation has really helped here. As project management, this is fantastic for us.”
The Mill Valley is a model project for Ten Ham: “It is a work with many details and heights, but with good people it always works easier. It really is a project that makes you say: it can be done that way.”
