9,000 m2 for roofing, roof terraces and sedum vegetation

A new roofing system

An important part of the transformation at Ravensteijnweg in Middelburg is the renovation of the roof. For this, Daktechniek Allaart de Kraker first removes the old roofing, consisting of bitumen, insulation material and gravel, over approximately 9,000 m2. It then rebuilds the roofs, partly with a finishing layer of gravel and partly with a finishing layer of sedum vegetation.

"It's a big job," says Kees Quist, technical manager of Roofing Technology Allaart de Kraker. "Not so much because of the number of square meters, but because of the diverse work. The removal of the existing roof and the construction of the new roof require several disciplines. We also install permanent fall protection and set up various roof terraces."

Trained within the company

Currently, Daktechniek Allaart de Kraker has completed the demolition work and applied a bituminous emergency layer. Says Quist, "This way we can be sure that the roof will be watertight during the work and the construction of the new roofing system can begin later. For our roofers, this is easy work. They are trained within the company and understand
their profession."

Home game

An additional advantage is the location of the project. The premises of Daktechniek Allaart de Kraker are only three kilometers away from the Ravensteijnweg. "So we can quietly speak of a home base. Should the need arise, we can respond quickly and flexibly."
