Supplier of sliding-door systems Solarlux has made another quality step with COVID-19 and the upcoming introduction of the Building Quality Assurance Act (Wkb). Thermal insulation, ventilation solutions, high soundproofing, an efficient installation method and user comfort are almost always demanded in combination, leading to innovative constructional integration of balcony glazing tailored to the project, translated into the adjustable high-end system SL Modular.
A recent development is the prefabrication of sliding-turn systems - top-notch customization in service of building specifications, aesthetics and construction method. Architectural advisor Jan Jaap Hofstra: "Basically, our sliding-turn systems are attractive to the architect, with slim profiles and a sleek appearance. If you move towards prefabrication of elements, you quickly arrive at an integral approach according to total cost of ownership. We usually succeed well in convincing the owner/user. When a high-rise apartment is equipped with a Solarlux system, the lifespan is often already decisive; after all, you don't want to replace an element halfway through the lifespan of a building."
"When it comes to failure costs, we can also convince the contractor," Hofstra continued. "Solarlux always works with trained in-house people for assembly, and a prefabricated element can be assembled cost-effectively." All this means that Solarlux's products increasingly interface with design and construction aspects. "This is why we prefer to be in the picture early in the process, so that you can look each other in the eye as construction partners." Quality, it comes at a price. "Solarlux tests excessively on all aspects, from thermal performance and assembly logistics to glass cleaning methods. The result is a high-end custom product. We know that our total costs of ownership are lower compared to other providers and point out the possibilities to building partners early on."
An important role in all this is played by SL Modular, a sliding-turn system for balconies that can be assembled integrally as an element, tailored to the project. "Especially in high-rise projects, SL Modular is in high demand," says Hofstra. "Equipped with the slimmest possible T-profiles and high specifications." Project-dependent, SL Modular is applied as a thermally insulated facade element with glass folding wall or uninsulated with transparent sliding system; further developed as a free-hanging element at the end of the balcony slab and adjustable after assembly. "Especially in high-rise buildings, this is necessary because of the integral assembly and required tolerances. It goes without saying that this top product is custom-made and produced to order at Solarlux, from design to assembly."
