High-quality ceramic tile work for homes Groot Hartje

All 264 homes of Groot Hartje in downtown Eindhoven were tiled by Maik Stam Tegelwerken VOF. This was quite a large project of about 14,000 m2. Some of the homes also allowed the owners to choose what kind of tiles they wanted.

Houses for sale are often delivered as shells, after which the owners get to work on them themselves. This was not the case with Groot Hartje, because it is a high-rise building and everything had to be delivered watertight. Among other things, this was done with high-quality tile adhesives and waterproofing agents from Schomburg. Maik Stam and his team delivered the complete tile work from A to Z, for both the owner-occupied and rental apartments. "For the rental homes, standard white tiles and dark floor tiles were selected. The owners of the condominiums were allowed to choose their own tiles from wholesaler BMN in Best. We then set to work with that. As it had to be made according to the showroom report, we executed it," Stam says.

Fast work

He runs his business along with his two sons and a regular team of professionals they can call on. They do everything in the field of ceramic tile work, both interior and exterior. At Big Heart, three men were working on the owner-occupied properties and four on the rental properties. They worked there from early April 2023 to January 2024. Stam: "We worked incredibly fast. I myself have been doing tiling for 37 years, so I know what I might encounter. A larger format, a diamond tile: we have no problem with that. It was a very big project though, one of the biggest we've ever made."

The traffic jams for

Stam carried out the work for Stam + De Koning Bouw. For this company, the team is now working again near the Philips Stadium, where 480 new homes are being built. "With Stam + De Koning we have been working together since 2001, so that cooperation is going very well. We also got along well with installation company Schoormans. All in all, it was a very nice project to make. And it was also an advantage that it was close to our company in Cranendonck. We were on site in no time and always ahead of all the traffic jams," says Stam.
