Ferross Steel Construction was involved in the development of The Natural Pavilion and supplied the steel components for the circular pavilion. "We supplied eight hundred steel nodes, steel follower plates to connect the units and steel wind bracing to make the whole thing stable," says Ferross Staalbouw project manager Henk van Nistelrooij.
Ferross is an international steel company with a long history. "With our knowledge and craftsmanship, we innovatively realize our customers' ideas. We make complex and high quality steel constructions and relieve our customer from the first question to realization and assembly. Our projects can be seen in infra, utilities and industry."
Noordereng Group, initiator of The Natural Pavilion, has been a Ferross client since 1997. Van Nistelrooij: "We built in a construction team with Noordereng before, for example, the cinema in Ede. This project also arose from that collaboration. We were involved in the development from the beginning."
The Natural Pavilion is modularly constructed of wood and steel. The modules have steel nodes at the corners. "These are welded by our Cobot welding robot. In addition to this project, we are currently building a hotel and apartment complex using the same system."
Steel from Korea was reused for the foundation beams. This steel was not pre-treated. Van Nistelrooij: "That is not necessary because it is underground. Therefore, we did not use any chemicals." At Ferross Steel Construction, they are proud of their contribution to this project. "It is good to work together in an innovative and sustainable way. This in turn provides inspiration for the future. For example, we are increasingly working toward a new way of remountable, flexible construction."
