Concentric boiler connections for added safety

Panflex is a specialist in flue systems and ventilation hoses. For many years, the company has manufactured flexible flue pipes that can be used as liners in an existing architectural chimney flue. Panflex has suitable systems for both low-rise and high-rise buildings and for both new construction and renovation.

When the central heating boiler needs to be replaced, the complete flue system must also be replaced. This includes the roof finish, flue pipe, shaft outlet and boiler connection parts. This work should only be carried out by certified installation companies. By always working with Panflex systems, you are assured that the connections fit together perfectly. Thanks to their own manufacture, the systems are very strong. For the installer the advantage of the own brand is the ease of installation. Installation is therefore fast and safe.

INOX and ROAX

By using flexible flue hoses in the existing duct, the existing ducts and rigid metal exhaust pipes do not need to be modified. The INOX and ROAX flexible hoses do not rust and are GASTEC QA approved. Because they are smooth on the inside, they are easy to pass through existing chimney flues. INOX is suitable for central heating appliances with a maximum flue gas temperature of up to 250°C. It uses the strongest type of steel (316Ti stainless steel) and a double seam. ROAX hoses consist of polypropylene plastic and are suitable for temperatures up to 120°C. These cables are lighter and particularly suitable for new construction, where the ducts are straight and have few obstructions. Both hoses are available in different diameters.

Tube-in-tube construction

The INOX and ROAX flexible flue hoses are a perfect combination with the SAFEFIT concentric boiler connections. These are very safe to use due to the pipe-in-tube construction, says Henry Kale, account manager at Panflex. "In the past, boilers were connected in parallel. Nowadays, more and more boiler manufacturers are working with a concentric connection. In this, the flue is in the middle part of the pipe and the air supply around it. Should there be a leak, the gas does not enter the room, but the boiler where a malfunction is then indicated. The risk of carbon monoxide poisoning is then still virtually zero." The outer pipe of the SAFEFIT connection consists of aluminum and the inner pipe of plastic. The products are CE marked in accordance with standard EN 14471.

"For both new construction projects and renovations, we provide a comprehensive, complete package," Kale continues. "For example, we have a sump connection that is flexible to connect with both INOX and ROAX hoses. The concentric connection to the boiler is universal. I always advise against mixing brands, though."

Panflex launched the SAFEFIT concentric boiler connections this year. The new package is available through various wholesalers. If you want advice on the systems, you can also ask Panflex directly.
