GB&O Group BV renovates and maintains various types of real estate. In doing so, it mainly works on 'the outer shell' of buildings. Due to previous good collaborations, GB&O Groep and Jurriens are now also working together on Phase 2 of the restoration at the Rechthuislaan in Rotterdam. Marcel Vink, owner of GB&O Groep, explains the project.
The project Rechthuislaan Phase 2 is about improving the quality of social housing of Woonstad Rotterdam. And let GB&O Group be exactly specialized in this kind of renovation work! "We have a lot of experience in that and also find that the more enjoyable projects. Unlike new construction, the focus in renovation and restoration is namely much more on quality and a little less on price," says Vink.

Within Woonstad Rotterdam's project, Jurriens is GB&O Groep's client: it is taking care of the foundation repair at the rental properties. This also immediately includes some repair of the buildings above the rental apartments. "If something needs to be done to the facades there, we take that up," Vink continues. "We work with Jurriens more often, so by now we have a good click and bond of trust."
The most exciting thing during this project? "It's actually always exciting to start renovating buildings. Sometimes it looks pretty good from the outside, but as soon as you put up scaffolding and take a closer look, you suddenly see what's wrong. Cracks in facades, rotten steel behind it: it's different every time. You don't find that out until you're already working on it."
Through Jurriens, GB&O Group is in close contact with the supervisor from Woonstad. "This way we keep each other informed and together we achieve a good result." Vink is happy that GB&O Group is allowed to collaborate on this project, he says. "These are the nicer things, yes. Sometimes we also do masonry and pointing work for 300 homes in a neighborhood, but a project like on Rechthuislaan is almost a restoration project. Soon the scaffolding will go away and we'll see what we've put up, which is nice anyway."
