For example, Ploeg kozijnen from Nieuw-Vennep and Van Wijnen Groep have been working together for many years on various projects, both in new construction and renovation. The partners are also currently working on the renovation and optimization of the homes of Woonstichting De Key on the Anton Waldorpstraat and surroundings in Amsterdam.
"Since our founding in 1980, we have accumulated a lot of experience in producing, supplying and installing plastic window frames, doors, sliding doors, dormers and more for both private projects and the business market. This is also why we like to be involved in each project at the earliest possible stage in order to be able to contribute ideas about the right products and processes," Cor Hager says. "In the homes on Anton Waldorpstraat, the existing window frames in the front and rear facades are being replaced with new facades with insulated glass, making drafts and heat loss a thing of the past from now on. On the side where the influence of ambient noise is most annoying, facades with an improved acoustic value will be integrated. Furthermore, our people are responsible for the special paneling, which avoids cold bridges."
Successful realization of such a renovation project depends on the quality of the products used and the workmanship by the contractor, but also to a large extent on the communication and agreements between all construction partners. Hager continues, "A maintenance project with multiple homes, like here in Amsterdam, is very intensive. That naturally brings inconveniences for the residents, who stay in their homes on this construction site during the refurbishment. They have to deal with a lot of people and everything happens in their homes. So it comes down to keeping those inconveniences to a minimum. To do this, open communication and correct agreements between all construction partners and with the client and residents are crucial. That way the client knows exactly what he has with the chain of companies and that is an advantage on all levels."
One point of contact for all preparatory work: demolition, drilling and sawing work
and asbestos removal
The renovation of homes is often preceded by a great deal of preparatory work. For this, general contractors usually call on true specialists in the trade, such as Prefect, which performs demolition, drilling and sawing work as well as asbestos remediation. After previous successful projects, Van Wijnen Groep also chose the company from Westknollendam for the construction team in the renovation of the homes on Anton Waldorpstraat.
"We are responsible for the demolition of the old container houses at the front of the building blocks, among other things, but also perform sawing work for the removal of the balconies and drilling work for the penetrations of the mechanical ventilation," explains director Hans Oldenmenger. "Of course, we are primarily known as a certified asbestos remediator, taking care of customers completely. To this end, we have an Asbestos Expert (ADK), Expert Supervisor of Asbestos Demolition (DTA) with VCA-Vol certificate, trained personnel (DAV) and all specialist equipment and materials. In this project, we are removing all asbestos-containing applications in the window frames on the front and back facades of the houses. This is done according to a tight schedule, but in close consultation with the residents who remain in their homes during the work."
