Prevent thermal leaks

When it comes to making the built environment more sustainable, the facade anchoring system, traditionally made of metal, is often overlooked. A shame, because the heat-conducting properties of metal cause thermal leaks in the facade. With Isolink® is a thing of the past. This facade anchor solves the thermal bridge problem in the facade.

Schöck Isolink® is a facade anchoring technique made of glass fiber composite. "Thermal leaks that occur with metal anchoring solutions are not an issue with fiberglass composite," says Michiel Rietveld of Schöck Netherlands. "Fiberglass composite conducts 300 times less heat relative to aluminum and has very good properties with regard to strength and rigidity." The facade anchor lends itself perfectly to both new construction and renovation, meets fire class B in accordance with EN-13051 and is available in various diameters and at any desired length.

From ventilated facade to concrete sandwich wall

Schöck Isolink® is suitable for both ventilated façade concepts and precast concrete sandwich walls. "Because thermal leaks with Isolink® are greatly reduced, savings on insulation thickness of up to 50% are possible," says Rietveld. "The higher the required Rc value, the more gain is possible with Isolink® to be achieved. It results in slimmer facades and thus a larger net floor area." Also in precast concrete walls, Isolink proves® its added value. "The strength and rigidity of the anchor provide the structural transfer and bearing capacity of the concrete walls. Because Isolink® combines the anchorage and spacers in one product, its installation is also very easy."

Circular concept

Isolink® was exclusively anchored chemically in the "past. Since this year, the facade anchor can also be fixed via a dry mounting technique. "Here we use self-tapping anchor points, into which the facade anchor is screwed. This makes the anchoring concept fully circular and interchangeable, should there be a need for a different aesthetic application at any given time," Rietveld clarifies. "The speed of assembly is also significantly improved with this dry mounting technique. Finally, it offers more adjustability. Especially in existing construction with possible deviations in dimensions, this is a plus."

Freedom in connection

Schöck supplies Isolink® fully customized. Not only in terms of diameter and length, there is also complete freedom of connection for the end, such as a screw thread at the end or a pre-drilled "hole" to which the profile can be directly attached. "It just depends on which facade finish is chosen: from lightweight elements to even natural stone. Our in-house engineering department makes the most efficient calculation for each project, also in terms of the use of materials. We recently completed a study into the CO2-emissions and EQI of our products."
