Strong and solid foundation for module homes The Tram Stop

Prefabricated modular floors and foundation beams

At the base of the 44 modular homes of De Tramhalte in Schagen are prefabricated modular floors from Appel Beton. This concrete manufacturer has been providing conclusive custom work for more than half a century. From foundation beams to storage floors, storage roofs, garage floors, stability walls and elevator walls. Its own foundation is on West Frisian soil, but Appel Beton's projects are located throughout the country.

The bottlenecks in the housing market need to be addressed quickly and in a structured manner. According to Appel Beton, prefabricated construction is the solution for this. "Big advantage of prefabrication is the significantly shorter lead time," says Jurjen ten Berge, project manager at Appel Beton. "In addition, work can be done under the best labor and climate conditions. This allows us to guarantee consistently high quality." The fruits of this approach were also reaped at project The Tram Stop. "We have been producing precast floors for the module homes of Ursem Modular Bouwsystemen for many years, working toward far-reaching standardization and process optimization. Installer Schouten Techniek is also actively involved in this process. For this project we supplied 88 floors of 4 meters wide, in lengths of 9 to 12 meters. In the prefab module floors, the provisions for the installations and floor heating have already been poured in. Insulation has also been used in the first floor, which also meets the insulation value." It is also possible to include provisions for fixing galleries and balconies.

Appel Beton takes its social responsibility, by searching daily for innovative product solutions that fit into the circular economy. "For example, with sophisticated concrete compositions and alternative cements, we try to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible," Ten Berge explains. "Moreover, our modular floors will soon be transported by electric trucks to Ursem Modular Bouwsystemen in Wognum."

In addition to the precast modular floors, Appel Beton also supplied and assembled the foundation beams and elevator pit for project The Tram Stop.
