Platform on new construction, renovation, restoration and transformation
The new sports center De Rolpeal in Workum was fitted with roof cladding and facade cladding by Bakker Workum. "A true feat," notes Sam Bakker, project manager of Bakker Workum Konstruktiewerken. "Certainly the design of the building - at the beginning of the construction process - was a nice challenge."
To work out the details, Bakker Konstruktiewerken worked intensively with the contractor and architect. Thus, the exterior of the building became a spectacular whole. The distinctive red-brown color of the roofing, cladding and fascia edges immediately catch the eye. Says Bakker, "It's a bold color that you don't often see on contemporary buildings."
Bakker Konstruktiewerken was also considered to carry out the roofing and cladding because it is based in Workum. Jorritsma Bouw chose - whenever possible - local partners. "With us, of course, the work was more than welcome," says Bakker. "It was a sophisticated opportunity to present our business card."
The design of the middle part of the building - where the canteen, among other things, is located - looks beautiful. The high ceilings and perforated roof panels in connection with the necessary sound absorption give the space cachet. Moreover, from the canteen and the elevated terrace, visitors enjoy a fantastic view of the soccer fields of v.v. Workum, of which Bakker Workum has been a sponsor for many years. The employees of Bakker Workum are proud of the final result. Since the official opening by Foppe de Haan, a sportsman in heart and soul, athletes from Workum and surroundings have a beautiful sports complex again for years to come, to which Bakker Workum contributed.
