WEBO wins audience award Overijssel Circular Innovation Top 20

WEBO won the Audience Award of the Overijssel Circular Innovation Top 20 with Circular-Kozijn®. The jury prize went to Royal Auping for a circular mattress. The initiators of the Circular Innovation Top 20 want to show what Eastern Netherlands has to offer in terms of circular innovations. And take these innovations a step further.

From the many entries, the jury previously compiled a Top 20. The best five presented their innovation on Wednesday, February 9, via a short pitch from the Gasworks in Deventer. The public could follow the finals via a live stream.

Circular-Frame® receives audience award

The Circular-Frame® is a product that can reuse an already renewable resource, namely wood. WEBO window frames uses wood from urban mining to make new window frame parts. Moreover, the Circular-Kozijn® is low-maintenance and can be disassembled. Circular-Kozijn® received 40 percent of the public's votes, making it the winner of the public award.

Jury Award for Circular Mattress

Together with Covestro Niaga, Royal Auping has developed the world's first circular mattress made of polyester and steel. After lifetime, the mattress is guaranteed to be returned.

The Top 20 is an initiative of VNO-NCW Midden, Kiemt, CIRCLES, the Cleantech Region, the Economic Board Regio Zwolle, the Twente Board, Rabobank and the province of Overijssel.

Jury

The jury consisted of jury chairman Klaas Feenstra (director Rabobank Vaart en Vechtstreek), Mireille Kinket (director IQBlvd), Maurice Beijk (steward 2050 at Renteninfra), Eddy van Hijum (member of the Provincial Executive of Overijssel and responsible for economy and innovation, among other things) and Fleur Willemse (Industrial Design Engineering student).

The jury evaluated the innovations on a number of points. These included the extent to which the innovation is ready for the market and/or is already in production, the impact in terms of reduction in raw materials and the impact of the innovation on the inhabitants of Overijssel. Finally, collaboration with knowledge institutions and the sharing of knowledge with others were considered.

Circular Economy Week is the annual campaign week for Circular Economy.
