"We are responsible for both the E and W installations," says Hendri Crediet of Van der Sluis Renovation. "The 140 apartments in the flats are going off the gas and switching from high-temperature to low-temperature heating. Almost everything is being renovated. Not only the heating technology, but also the water pipes, electricity and rainwater drainage."
In each flat, the gas boilers are replaced by a heat pump, which is set up in the technical room. The heat pump is connected to a buffer tank, which stores 1,500 liters of hot water. Collective thermal hot water collectors assist in the preparation of hot water. "From the technical room, transmission lines run through the shafts to the homes," says Crediet. "We connect to that with the central heating pipes from the apartments. We replace the water pipes with a ring main, so the residents have continuous hot tap water. Each apartment also gets individual water and energy metering."
For even more sustainable comfort in the apartments, Van der Sluis Renovation applies balanced ventilation with heat recovery (WTW). Says Crediet, "The heat exchanger in this installation uses the heat from the outgoing air to heat the cool incoming air. As a result, less energy is needed to heat the incoming air. We also laid the necessary ventilation ducts for ventilation in all rooms." Electrical work consisted of renewing the pipes, cables and group boxes in the apartments. New groups have been added for the washing machine and electric stove. In addition, each apartment will have a videophone system and solar panels.

In execution, Van der Sluis Renovation is running in the cycle for the interior work. Crediet explains, "The first thing we do is dismantle the radiators. This is followed by pre-assembly for the WTW box, the central heating pipes and electrics. We also dismantle the geyser and connect the water pipes to the ring main. Once the facade insulation has been completed, we replace the radiators and adjust the heat exchanger and central heating. We install the rainwater drain when the exterior facade is completely finished."
He emphasizes that a lot will change for the residents: "In the renovated, all-electric apartments, things like cooking and heating will be done slightly differently. Mercatus guides the residents through this process. We provide support, including manuals for using the systems. Together we ensure that the residents can enjoy their sustainable, comfortable home to the maximum."
