In 2013, Klimaatservice Holland was involved in the new construction of Nature's Pride in Maasdijk. In cooperation with De Vries en Verburg and Van Kempen Koudetechniek, among others, a sustainable, efficient and user-friendly building was realized. Now these parties, together with Mansveld Elektrotechniek, are working together in a construction team to expand the building.
"Within the construction team, we are responsible for the W-installations," says Willem Sterkenburg, head of the design and calculation department of Klimaatservice Holland. "This includes the air treatment, plumbing, compressed air installation, control systems and the heating, cooling and ventilation of the office spaces. The heating comes from residual heat from Van Kempen Koudetechniek's refrigeration plant." The W-installations meet the requirements of BREEAM-NL 'Excellent'. They are similar to those of the existing building, but operate independently.
"During the design process, it turned out that both the expansion and the existing part had to be equipped with a sprinkler system," Sterkenburg continued. "For the existing part, this is quite a logistical challenge. After all, there the process has to continue as usual. The incorporation of the sprinkler in the existing section runs parallel to the new construction, so that upon completion the entire building is equipped with sprinklers and a single installation is created. The sprinkler in the existing part has therefore become a virtually separate project. Our partner Aqua+, with whom we are taking on this challenge, is fulfilling this in an excellent way."
The W installations, including the sprinklers, are in the completion phase. Completion will follow in September of this year. Sterkenburg: "Despite the time pressure, the work is proceeding smoothly. The cooperation within the construction team is pleasant. Moreover, Nature's Pride is giving us every confidence to turn the expansion into something beautiful. In that we will certainly succeed."
