The company frequently works with main contractor Aan de Stegge Twello and thought along at an early stage on how the facade was constructed and installed.
Aluvo has realized several beautiful facades in the Netherlands. Anyone who is regularly on the road has certainly been able to admire several of them. Yet the assignment to create the facade of the Porsche Center was extra special, says Ger van Voorst of Aluvo Geveltechniek. "It is Porsche, isn't it?" he says with a smile. "And typical of Porsche is the black composite lines in the facade. As a result, we had to adjust the attachment points in the aluminum. That was a nice challenge."
In the end, everything turned out to be custom-made. "What I personally really like is the facade near the garage doors. There you really have to pay attention in terms of dimensions and make sure that the lines continue neatly everywhere. The facade is interrupted several times there by garage doors, facade or wicket door. And the lines have to be the same everywhere. That's challenging work." Or take the entrance, where the curtain wall flows segmentally from the west façade into the other façade. "Because it is segmented, you have to pay very close attention to whether you make the right connection everywhere with the composite façade in front of it."
Aluvo makes the aluminum facades all in-house. The large aluminum elements are custom-made in our own factory and powder coated in the right color. And that is especially important on a job like this. "More than with other clients, Porsche already knows very well exactly what color to use. That even applies to the attachment points on the main structure. Those are powder coated in the same color." There was also much consultation with the structural engineer of the steel structure. Van Voorst: "We are responsible for the strength of the facade and have to take the wind load into account. Our attachment points to the rear - more than on some other projects - have to be detailed with us at an early stage."
Van Voorst praises the cooperation with other construction parties. "We work a lot with Aan de Stegge. This contractor always involves us at an early stage and that works very well. Some people I know as well as my own colleagues. And you notice that in the end result."
